Rice in a pot traditionally known as clay pot rice [bo-zai-fan], is an ancient cooking method that was invented thousands of years ago. In the present day, clay pot rice is still very popular in Hong Kong and Guangdong cuisine. The secret to an excellent made clay pot rice is actually no secret but to cook the rice in a clay pot. We use a clay pot because of the pores found in the material of clay which allows the rice to breathe and absorb the natural flavours of the rice. An authentic clay pot rice is not complete without the crispy rice found on the bottom of the pot called [fan-jiao].

At Bowl Kee, we’ve preserved and served this traditional ancient method of clay pot cooking for our customers. Our restaurant has been proudly serving since the early 1990’s. Come find us, as we are located on the south side of New Kennedy Square, on Highway 7 and Kennedy. Our traditional Chinese cuisine is best enjoyed with friends and family.

Our Executive Chef, Yang has been in the culinary field for over 30 years and has honed his skills in many styles of asian cuisines. Originally, he started his restaurant in Canada with his wife Josephine called Shanghai Court. Not until recently they’ve taken over Bowl Kee from the previous owners to share his skills and experience in preparing clay pot rice dishes. Try from our range of classic combination dishes, soups, famous courses, and hot pot dishes. If this is your first time at the restaurant, you must try one of our rice in hot pot dishes.
